In 1973 Robert's
father, Leslie Davies, bought us a G.S.D. for our first wedding
anniversary. He was called Royvons Jervis. Jervis was a dual purpose
dog, working and winning in both the Obedience and Breed Show rings. Our
next GSD was Royvons Vin-Blanc of Silverleigh who won well in the show
ring.
Her first litter to
Jervis produced Silverleigh Roman Warrior J.W. who was exported to
Trinidad at 11 months of age and where he gained his title of Champion
by winning his first 3 shows.
Silverleigh Razzamatazz
& Silverleigh Riff Raff both of whom became Obedience & Breed Show
winners came from the same litter.
The 1980's
During the 1980's we
campaigned Silverleigh Gabriella. Gabriella was a multiple Best Puppy
and Best of Breed winner being graded Excellent under such notable
judges as Herr Paul Riedel, Dr. Beck and Bo Nyman.
This was a fairly quiet time for us show
wise as we produced 2 of our own.
Rebecca, who completed university obtaining 2 degrees, shown far left on
Graduation Day, now teaches in Guildford.
And Richard who also gained a degree
now is in full time employment but still has an interest in the
dogs helping with the day to day training and care.
The 1990's
In the late 1980's we
completely changed our bloodlines, saying goodbye to the old English
lines which we felt were lacking when compared to those being promoted
by the rest of the world. We feel secure in the knowledge that we made
the correct decision for our kennel which has gone from strength to
strength ever since and which we hope will continue to do so
The late 1990's were an
exciting time for us with Silverleigh Connie doing us proud both in the
show ring where she gained many top honours & in her maternal duties
producing for us some superb offspring in Silverleigh Gabriella by
Karado Avax & Silverleigh Limited Edision & Special Edision by Max v
Hambachtal.
Along with these
females we have Silverleigh Xano, our quarantine born son of Dutch
Sieger Shanto's Xano, (Flick v. Arlett) out of our own Silverleigh
Jinnie.
The 2000's
So far this century has
seen Silverleigh continue showing Connie & receiving many good placings.
We also mated her daughter Silverleigh Gabriella to the French dog
Nielsen du Normont. From this litter kept a female who has ensured the future of our small
kennels. Robert continues to handle today having first
handled and won in the Breed Ring in 1950's with his fathers male Vampire
of Grange. Having been raised with German Shepherds (his father was the
much respected Leslie Davies who was himself a Championship Obedience
Judge) we feel that continued improvement is the best way forward.
Our time is also taken
up with
Heads of the Valley GSD Club where
Robert is Chairman & Margaret is Secretary & where every Sunday
afternoon breed show ring training is conducted as well as frequent
Training/BBQ's & educational programmes.
